American Cancer Society's campaign, Real Men Wear Pink . . .
ended October 31, 2019. Dr. Kelly D. Ferrell, Board Certified Radiologist at Breast Diagnostic Center, placed 4th in the campaign.
In the Fall of 2017, Breast Diagnostic Center (BDC) was approached by American Cancer Society to partake in their new campaign, Real Men Wear Pink. Dr. William C. Petty, Medical Director of BDC at the time proudly accepted the challenge. Dr. Petty and his staff fundraised with energy and passion. The following year, Fall of 2018, Dr. Jay T. Jones picked up the baton from Dr. Petty to fundraise in the 2nd annual Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Dr. Kelly D. Ferrell than accepted the baton from Dr. Jones and fundraised in the 3rd annual RMWP. To-date, the three Breast Diagnostic Center radiologists have helped raise over $12,500 for the American Cancer Society and educate all on breast cancer awareness.
Donations from the 2019 RMWP campaign will again support the American Cancer Society in their efforts to help save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research and patient support. Breast Diagnostic Center and its staff have been proud supporters of the American Cancer Society and its various campaigns for decades. In 1991, in its infancy, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer was called Summit City 10K run. BDC was an event sponsor at the 1991 campaign and has been an avid annual sponsor since. BDC was a proud returning “Water Station” sponsor at the past October, 2019 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. BDC takes pride in not only providing our patients with excellent care, but also historically giving back to our community. The Breast Diagnostic Center was the first dedicated breast center in Fort Wayne to be accredited by the American College of Radiology. Since 1989, the Center has maintained its accreditation due to the training and experience of the radiologists and technologists. All Breast Diagnostic Center sites are FDA Certified.
